For example, my sister's boyfriend dumped her, broke her heart, but eventually "she got over him."

How can I phrase that more--professionally---less colloquially?

She separated herself from him.

She avoided him.

She divorced him.

She overcomed or surmounted his reign of terror.

She recovered from her broken heart.

She reconciled her broken heart that was caused by her spiteful and baleful boyfriend.

She recuperated herself so her heart won't infuriate so much.

Or, use the examples the other people give you.
