I was using VIC-20's and C-64's at home in the very early 1980's.

How about 1971 --

The Kenbak-1, the first personal computer, advertised for $750 in Scientific American. Designed by John V. Blankenbaker using standard medium-scale and small-scale integrated circuits

IBM claims 1975 with their 5100 but that was a 10K comupter and wasn't really a home machine!

The Apple 1 came out in 1976 - Thanks Steve Wozniak

My first - I can't even remember the name now.. was programmed by switches on the front panel, took me three months to assemble. That was 1977

the first computer that was able to go in the house was in the 1980's. the os on it was something called dos with dos there was no mouse only a keybord no internet but some games for dos. but before computer where in the house the goverment had them

We had the first computer in 1986, it was xt machine no hard drive only works on Dos.
