the answer is letter c

i'll show you the solution

5x - 7y = -7 is slope intecept form is

y= (5x + 7) / 7

because it perpendicular to the line, find the negative reciprocal of the slope which is -7/5

using the point slope form

y - y1 = m( x - x1)
y + 4 = -7/5 ( x + 1)

(y + 4 = -7x/5 - 7/5) multiply the whole equation by 5

5 (y + 4 = -7x/5 - 7/5)
5y + 20 = -7x - 7
7x + 5y = -20 - 7

7x + 5y = - 27

The slope of the given line:
5x - 7y = -7
7y = 5x + 7
y = (5/7)x + 7
Slope is 5/7
For a perpendicular line you want negative reciprocal:
That's -7/5
Use the point slope form:
(y - y1)/(x - x1) = m
(y - (-4))/(x - (-1)) = -7/5
(y + 4)/(x + 1) = -7/5
Multiply both sides by 5(x + 4)
5y + 20 = -7x -7
7x + 5y = -27
That's choice C.

none of those options are correct:

5x - 7y= -7
5x - 7= 7y
y = (7/5x) - 1

a line perpendicular to this would have to have a slope of -5/7 because perpendicular lines must have a reciprocal slope...

the correct answer would be: y = (-5/7x) - 4

NONE of those are right perpendicular will always be opp. like if the line is 5x then the slope should be -1/5X

but none of those is even a coice for slope...but it's most definately NOT letter d!
