I had an ultra sound at what the Tech measured my gestational sac at 5.6 weeks. they did not see the fetal pole yet, they said it was too early. I went back a week later and they measured the sac at 6.4 weeks and the fetal pole at exactly 6 weeks. the Doctor was not there that ay but the tech and the doctors ***'t said it will most likely be a miscarriage. The next day after the Doctor reviewed my hcg levels, which were still high at 37,000(2 weeks prior they were at 14,000) and they pics she said she would like me to get another ulra sound because she's not sure if the dates are correct. I have already prepared myself that it is a miscarriage and don't want to get my hopes up only to be devastated again but does anyone out there know if things like thatever happen and it turns out to be a normal pregnancy?

Hey,
Nothing is ever certain!
Your HCG levels are great...
Wait until your next ultra-sound so you can find out some more info!
Now I don't mean to be rude here...
But if you didn't have your ultra-sound you'd never know about this...
Now this happens to women all the time...They have no idea whats going on and have a successful pregnancy!
So with saying that you have some early insight into your pregnancy which many women don't get...
At the 6th week of pregnancy HCG levels should be between 1,080 to 56,500...
So yours are fine!
Goodluck and try not to worry too much about it all!

There is No heartbeat at 5 weeks that person is not correct but yes there should be a fetal pole by 5 weeks and a heart beat by 6 the embryo should never get smaller so i would say that they are correct and you should soon miscarry I have had 3 and learned via ultra sound that I had lost all 3 pregnancies 1 heartbeat stopped the other two got never got a heartbeat but ultra sound showed they had stopped developing also my hcg levels where normal when they checked because it takes a few days for the levels to begin to drop. sorry for your loss and I'll hold out hope and cross my fingers that some way some how they could have been mistaken but I do think it's unlikely.

As you were quite far along, a pregnancy test (and ovulation test) will remain positive for probably around 6 weeks as it takes a long time for the pregnancy hormone to die down. I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks and it was over 5 weeks later until I got a negative test. Ovulation tests will also show positive because they detect hcg as well as LH. If you have stopped bleeding, you feel ok in yourself and you are not experiencing a fever or any smelly discharge then it is very likely that the miscarriage is complete. That is what my doctor told me when I asked how I would know when a miscarriage was complete. I'm sorry for your loss.

I have been pregnant 4 times and they said I was going to loose everyone b/c of no fetal pole or low levels. I did have one miscarriage but I never really felt pregnant. Good luck

it could be a false pregnancy, really uncommon but not impossible.
I am one person that this same thing happened to and i now have a two year old and they told me i would miscarry, but on the other hand i did have one miscarriage before and two since so its not so impossible either.
I really hope not for your sake and your child's but be prepared just in case.
the grief from a miscarriage is very real and very depressing for a long time, so get some more info from your doc and talk to a counselor if you feel the need.
I wish you all the best and pray for you.

It is possible to miscarry technically, but the sac will keep growing and your HCG levels keep rising. At your next u/s, if they cannot detect the heartbeat, then you probably had a miscarriage.

Well the heart starts beating at 5 weeks, so by 6 weeks they should have seen it. Listen to what they say though, your HCG levels are rising so that's good. I think they should have seen the baby at 6 weeks though.

Anything is possible. They shouldn't have told you that it would likely be a miscarriage. Only your doctor can tell you somthing like that. Measurements are never 100% accurate. I was told my baby would be less than 7lbs and she was over 8lbs! Hold out hope and pray.

this happened to me during my third child. i had a miscarrage before i got preggers with kellan, and he is a healthy, and very active three year old.
im not telling you to write off what your doc says, but try not to take everything to heart.
with my twon boys, they said that it looks like one of my boys (brandon) had a heart defect, but it cleared up on its own at 22 weeks.
I prayed for his health, and they are both fine. good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

sounds normal to me... the hcg levels are growing and it takes time for the fetus to develope. Rest and get the ultrasound.
