I heard their was i knew rule that refs wont know who wins matches, sugessting that thet usually do. I think its a great idea for the ref not to know who wins. More realistic, (ironic since all wwe is fake).

Everyone going into a "match" is aware of who is going to win. Understand that wrestling isn't "fake," it's scripted like a soap opera and choreographed like a dance number. Think of these guys like amazing stunt men. I mean, who can take a pounding like these guys are supposed to take and not have a mark on them the very next night?

Wrestlers in the ring call out numbers to each other as they work, so that they can anticipate what is going to happen to them. For instance, Wrestler A throws Wrestler B into the ropes and as he whips him, he says quietly (usually can't be heard over the crowd) "6" so that Wrestler B knows he's about to be drop-kicked and can get ready to raise his arms in front of his face and do a backfall to the mat. I once attended a match in the SF Cow Palace that was so empty, you could hear the calls.

Referees jobs are to make sure that a maneuver didn't seriously injure one of the wrestlers. You'll see them down close to a wrestler who's taken a "high risk" maneuver to ensure that the wrestler didn't get hurt. I don't know what the signal is - I've only seen one match pull up short when a wrestler torn a hamstring - but I was in the nosebleeds and couldn't tell. Frequently, a wrestler will inform the ref of a number to pass along to the other wrestler since he can't shout it across the ring. Refs are also ear-miked to they can be told to speed up or slow down a match for the TV network, and the ref will also signal when the winner should shoot the finishing move on his opponent to end a match.

Yes they know who will win. Just like in TNA, ECW, Smack Down, WWE Raw, etc. More then half of it is of course fake. But they still get hurt and at times killed. If it was all real, You will not be seeing it on TV as often.

They know. There is a real "carny" attitude amongst the wrestlers. They take care of their own, stick to themselves, and watch out for one another.
