I keep things clean,and wash my hands,but w/ 2 dogs and a teenage son,Im definatly NOT a germaphobic

No, but I do know some people that carry the little bottle of anti-bacterial lotion and they use it everytime right after they touch a doorknob or a water fountain button. That's a bit obsessive, well, in my opinion it is.

You know, there are and always HAVE been germs everywhere. And out parents and grandparents survived them just fine, and it much less "sanitary" conditions than we have now.
Don't forget what vaccines and the like are...they are controlled innoculations of the specific strain of germ or virus to help us build an immunity. By "purifying" everything around us, we are acutally weakening our immune systems by not getting exposure to some basic germs, and ultimately lowering our resistance to things (creating more "allergies" and the like).
While I am all for keeping things clean and sanitary, I think our obsessive - compulsive beahvior these days is more the result of clever marketing campaigns by cleanser companies, and less about increased awareness of the "perils" of germs.
Just my nickel...

No not at all my place is above average clean for an older single man. But by no means do I worry about germs.

oh yeah.i wash my hands 20+ times a day,. but at work 40+ times in 8 hours. get very dry skin, carry my own lotion and soap to use. don't use public toilets that don't have toilet seat covers available. don't eat foods that i don't know where they came from or how long they have been around.

I wash my hands a lot more than a normal person would So, I guess I am to a certain extent.
