if we pray hard enough, the baseball fairies just might grant our wishes...seriously, your team needs a good dose of above average pitchers...you're kinda okay in the hitting dept....it's still early in the season...there's still hope for your rangers and my astros.

That organization has been obsessed with hitting since Juan "Long Gone" Gonzalez. They have never made pitching an issue.
When they do go after pitchers, it's guys like Chan Ho Park Kevin Millwood, and Padilla. Ok pitchers but nothing solid.
This year they did not go hard after guys like Zito nor Schmidt but found a way to sign 39 year old Sammy Sosa. You have to be kidding? They simply love bats!
When will pitching be a priority with this team? That is the question. And until that question is fielded and acted upon the Rangers will not improve.

I rest my case.

Well, they have been at one time, but they lost to the Yankees in a couple of Division Series in the late 1990's.
Their shortfall then is their shortfall now -- that team for some reason has always been obsessed with hitting, and seems to be satisfied with mediocre pitching. They won't contend again until they get serious about putting together a decent pitching staff.

being an Angels fan I sure hope not but the truth is...who would have though the Angels would ever win the world series, let alone be a playoff contender. They'll be a contender at some point but of course I hope the Angels will kill any chances of them winning the division.

probably not for a while, or at least until they change stadiums...no legitimate pitchers want to go to texas because their ballpark is a bandbox and their numbers will go way up pitching there, and therefore their value in their next contract will go down, so it's a long-term negative to play there...so they won't have the pitching to contend for a long time most likely

Until their pitching becomes much more consistent, the Rangers will never be considered contenders.
