I had this problem with my vehicle too, It ended up being my Fuel Pump Relay Fuse which is located by the passenger firewall inside the engine compartment. Also, if your oxygen sensor goes out your O2/Fuel mixture will be off and it will flood the vehicle and cause it to stall. Basically it could be a ton of things and millions could answer this question but the only real way is to go to a mechanic or shop and have them hook it up to an OBD scanner and tell you whats wronhg. It runs about $40 to have it done. Good Luck and sorry about your problems.

It is old enough that it most likely needs to go see the eldorado doctor and get a full checkup. Age is just as and actually more dammaging than a lot of miles. Might be due for a complete overhaul.

Sounds potentially like a bad coolant temp sensor to me. When they fail the ECU thinks that the coolant temp is -40°F and sends a too rich command to the fuel injectors. I would recommend that you take it to a trustworthy shop that can pull the trouble codes and see what's going on with your vehicle.

Not much info. here only idle problem. if it drives ok and idles bad you should look at the idle air control (iac) and the throttle position sensor (tps) located on the throttle body.

Black smoke is too much gas, or not enough air.
