This is incorrect because all rain has a pH less than 7. When rain falls to the ground, the carbon dioxide in the air reacts with the water, creating carbonic acid. This gives normal rain a slightly acidic pH. Acid precipitation is any precipitation with a pH less than 5.6.

Rain has some natural acidity due to normal substances in the clouds.

We consider acid rain as rain with a pH of 5.5 or so and below. This acid rain is caused by SO2 and NOxides released from coal burning plants

pH that is a 7 is neutral, so this could not be acidic.
Acid is 6 and lower. The lower the number the more acidic.
Base is 8 and higher. The higher the number the more basic.

True true but normally we would use pH with pools and water quality not acid rain so idk about that but i do know u r right about the pH being lower than 7 being acidic and being higher than 7 is basic

If you are referring to acid rain......

Normal precip has a pH slightly lower than 6 anyway (dissolved CO2). Acid rain has a pH of about 5.6 or lower and is attributed to dissolved sulfur dioxide and nitrous oxides.
