Some teams may only be one player away from being a contender or a champion.

The Celtics need help in several categories. Getting more than one player (experienced or rookie) in return for the draft choice might make them appreciably better next year.

Even if the draft choice was a superstar, it may be hard to tell without an adequate supporting cast. By the time they got more superstars, superstar #1 may get totally disgusted and wait for a chance to go elsewhere.

They really need a super coach. But super coaches don't always want to coach losing teams.

There some in the nba league are trying to get rid of the star player cause it going no where. so they prolly would take what they could and if it number 5 pick and soemthing else . they could get some advangte people in the draft. I mean not all star player was an first round pick ..so maybe they will get lucky grab an number 5 and he will outshine in the NBA with an player they traded with.

Sometimes you can get two really good young players, that will have more impact than one very good one with the rest of your unexciting team.

Only smart if the draft is deep or you have one second-tier player in mind.

They can get players that can contribute right now instead of having to wait for the young player they pick to develop.
