I have been trying to grow a beard, and everytime I let my facial hair grow, it itches and it gets really annoying. I know I should just go ahead and shave it off but do you guys have any suggestions as to how to make it less irritating?

My husband has a beard -- I don't! He says the itching stops after it grows out for a few days, but he has had the beard so long that he can't remember how long it took for the itching to stop. But he says it is a bit hot in summer. He has very sensitive skin and always had shaving rashes, so he loves not having to shave anymore. I love how it looks and feels! My advice is to give it at least a couple of weeks; after that it should feel fine.

Hey man I grew a beard a few times and yeah, it IS a little annoying. I don't know what to say other than try not to think about it. I liked how I looked in the beard for a while but I got tired of it itching and stuff...Just be sure to wash it with shampoo in the shower. Don't neglect it!

I am back to my thin mustache/round trimmed gotee combo. I love it and it doesn't bother the hell out of me.

Patience. It will quit itching after a few days of growth; if you have naturally dry skin you could try using some aloe vera gel on your beard or any moisturizing lotion, tho those smell sometimes.

Try rubbing in some hydrocortisone cream. it stops the itch in some of the other bearded parts of the body.

My husband wears a beard and I use shampoo and hair conditioner on it. He never complains of it itching.

What are you trying to hide? Who are you trying to impress?
Don't you have anything better to do than trim a beard? Then there is the nuisance of trying to keep in washed and out of your soup, trying to get food under it, attracting girls who do not mind a mouthful of hair. And to some people it looks unclean or like you are trying to make a political statement.
Esthetically beards are not universally looked upon with favor.

For me , when I get my hair cut I ask them if they could cut it off, because when useing a shaver instead of getting it cut by the barber it makes the hair curve back into your skin as it grows.

you must have sensitive skin. use shaving gel with aloe and use good quality of razor. 4 blades is good and less irratation. and use after shave.
