its not too hard, there is a c clip. if you push on the door panel you can see it if you look. the end of the clip will point the same way as the long part of the handle. push the door panel in by the crank and push on the end of the c clip with a small screw driver pushing it away from the long part of the handle. if you got a small hook tool those work good too. but the tool u seek to avoid only cost 2.99

You can stop by your local auto parts store and get the tool for a few bucks that will do the job.

Auto Zone and places like that rent out some specialty tools and this might be one of them. Call your local auto parts store and ask if they rent them out and also how much they are selling them for just in case it costs as much to rent as it does to buy one.
