The cleaning didn't cause it directly, but it could be the fish are still a bit stressed from all of the activity in the tank. Give them a few hours with the light off to settle back down and they should be fine.

There could be many reasons your goldfish is lying at the bottom of the tank. First they are tired and they are just resting there. Second it could be a water quality problem and you should do a 25% water change. Third it could be a parasite called gill fluke that could have been brought in by a new fish. This parasite cuases fish to rest at the bottom and breath slowly. If this is the case you should buy some live bearer to kill the parasites before they kill your fish.

It's prob something on the sponge, try replacing part of the water. As for it being a aeration issue, I doubt it. When fish are running out of oxygen they go to the surface not the bottom. I wouldn't add any chemicals or water conditioner, just some aquarium salt for freshwater tanks. It should naturally clear things up.

You probably have to many in one tank. The rule of thumb is one square foot of water surface area for every inch of goldfish.

But if you just put them in there all fish get stressed in a move.

Did you use water conditioner when you changed the water? The water temp for goldfish should be about 70*. Do you use a filter? Check your ammonia and nitrite levels this could be the issue!

Gold fish get spooked easily. When i had goldfish, everytime i would clean my tank they would get scared. Give it a day and your goldfish will be back to normal.

look to see if they have a slimy coating on there scales it's could be a algae build up on the skin called eck..thats due to pourly balanced water ph it causes the fish to appear tired and lethargic..goldfish have a high pee concentration that throws the water off you might want to go to pets mart and find out how to balance the water ph

With what did you 'clean the algae'?

I know somebody who used an antibacterial sponge to do the job and killed all their little golden friends, poste-haste.

Gosh, bad news, however you've sickened them.

Good luck.
