When I was 15 my great-grandmother died. At her funeral, we looked at the family tree they had printed up for everyone. She had 7 children, 14 grandchildren, 110 great grand children and 10 great-great-grandchildren. I was the only one who was given her name (Lilly) as my middle name. I told my mother that I wanted to name my daughter that if I ever had one. Years later, when I got pregnant with my daughter, I knew that I was going to name her Lilly.
Everyone comments on how beautiful the name is. I hear lots of people say "that was my grandma's name". I just love the sound of "old" names. If I ever have another girl, I'm going to name her after my grandmother, Mary.

In the jewish religion you name your child after a deceased family member. So my children will have middle names that represent family members of their father's family. We're also incorporating my family into it as well... I'm afraid my children are going to have rather long names...
For instance, my first son's name will be ______ Everett Gardner. my first daughter's name will be ______ Hazel Fae. And I haven't decided if I want my maiden name to be included. My father's side has no one to carry on the last name and I feel like I should try to incorporate it somewhere. Maybe if I have 3 children I'll use that? My current last name isn't much of a middle name though. It's too harsh sounding.
I don't think anyone else in my family has really been named after anyone. It's a shame. It keeps the family close and interrelated.

My brother was named Bryan Edward. The Edward is for my grandfather that passed a month before my brother was born. My cousins were also named for great grandparents. One from their mothers side and one from their fathers side.
