Help With A Blackberry 8700's Volume.?

Question

My husband's job gave him a new Blackberry. It works fine but we are having a problem with the volume being too low. We can barely hear the person on the other end. We have tried turning up the volume (or what we think is turning up the volume) but it has not helped.
Can anyone walk me through it.
Serious answers only. Please.

While making a call, try moving the clickwheel (located on the right-hand side) in an upward motion. That should turn up the volume.
