Can I request to see my personnel files from a former employer?

I quit a position at a large organization several months ago. Does the HR office have to honor my request if I ask to see my personnel files?

No.

Personnel files are private property (i.e. the company's). They can only be seen if you are privy to them (e.g. you work in the HR department) or you have a subpeona for them.
