I have booked a honeymoon with a travel agent and would like to cancel the reservation because we found it cheaper. However, the contract says that we cannot get our deposit back for cancelling without a good reason. Does anyone have a reason for cancelling reservations where the travel agent would refund your deposit? Which travel agent were you using?

The reason the agent charges a deposit is because he doesn't want to do all that work for you and then have you back out because you found it cheaper elsewhere. Your deposit is gone, with good reason. Don't start off your marriage by cheating someone.

Well, you did agree to a contract with them before finding it cheaper.. They are absolutely within their rights to keep your deposit then if that's what the contract says.

Unless you have an actual good reason for canceling the reservation, I think that you are stuck according to the contract. And, really.. fair is fair. You did sign the contract stating that they could keep the deposit.

I wouldn't just pick out a reason that someone else gives you either because then you're just simply trying to violate the terms of the contract.. and in the end.. if it all came out.. could actually be sued I am sure.
