I have 3 new neighbors in my building. There is one couple who has a cat, another couple who just had a baby (and are also the new on site managers), and the third one so far looks like a single male living solo. I'm looking for something to write on a card to welcome them to their new living spaces. I don't want to write the same thing to everyone, I would like to individualize each one with the tiny bit of info. I have. Any talented and creative poets out there willing to share any ideas with me? I'll be more than happy to credit you with your work.

1). Neighbors

Neighbors are people who smile in the hall,
Neighbors are friends who sometimes simply call.
To wish you the best on your new furnished home
And share with you words from an old tome.

Welcome to the building I am glad that you are here.
Welcome to a new adventure, I wish you good cheer.
I'm sure you'll both like it here and also your beautiful cat,
Just pick up the phone if you would ever like to chat.

(Maybe purchase a small poetry book or book with empty pages so the newcomers can write their thoughts in their new home in each day of their first year at the building. And include your phone number and address of course in case they want to chat.)

2). Welcome
Welcome to your new home, all the three of you.
If there is anything I can help with, please call me, yes please do.
I am so happy you are living here
And wish to bring you some housewarming cheer.

This is a small token of my heart to you
To thank you for all that I'm sure that you will do.
So thank you in advance and best of luck with baby, too.
We are very happy to have you here, it is true.

(Perhaps give a small gift of things which on site managers will use - small hammer, screwdriver, some nice pens with note cards and some diapers for baby, small book for their thoughts or again a poetry book.)

3). A Minute to Spend
Do you have a minute to spend?
Well, here is what a minute will buy.
A word to let someone know you care
A smile to a passer by.
A bit of communion with God and his world
A thank you that maybe is long over due
A deep look inward to change your sights
And broaden your point of view.
If you have only a minute to spend
How very lucky you are!
For a minute will buy a whole heart's prayer
And pay your way clean to a star!

(Small gift of food might be nice or again a small book with pages to put down words or ideas. Small mug with hot cocoa or tea and some crackers and cookies might break the ice to have a cup together and talk.)

The first two are mine which I just wrote for you and the third is from a book which I thought might be nice to share with someone you may just see for a minute each day passing by.

Good luck and Happy Housewarming.

Housewarming Card Ideas

Tacky yes... if she is inviting folks over for a housewarming and expecting gifts, that's kind of weird, I'd say. Most people will bring a gift regardless of being asked.
