It was a best selling book. And a good one. If you don't mind my saying this, that's an odd question. I mean, why would you ask that. Why is any movie made. Just curious.

Some films should be taken to the big screen. For people like myself that don't read often, I would have never known about "Mockingbird" if it was not for the film. The film is excellent so I can only imagine how the book may be.

To provide a visual represtentation that there are people willing to fight racism, and why it is just wrong to kill a mockingbird.

It was made first as a book then a movie. Both the book and movie are wonderful. I loved both of them and you should read the book first then watch the movie. The movie is a classic as it should be. I read the book in tenth grade and watched the movie. I am so glad i did because it was worth it.

Same reason "The Godfather" or "The Bourne Identity" or "Gone With the Wind" was made. The book was very popular and someone thought it would make a good movie.

To not shun and hurt things that you dont understand or your not familiar with and thats not like you, those things might just be beautiful and extraordinary or have some important meaning. This concerns Tom ( from a different race), Boo Radley (someone odd in others eyes), and Atticus - reasons for not wanting to shoot even though very good at it-

Because I think someone wanted to make it. And you have to admit, it was a wonderful book.

I think Gregory Peck played Atticus perfectly.

Don't you?
