Most scientific calculators will have an [a b/c] button you can use. Simply punch 5 [a b/c] 27 for 5/27, 100 [a b/c] 7 for 100/7, and 3 [a b/c] 7 [a b/c] 8 for 3 7/8. Then add what you have come up with.

Otherwise, you can use the formula, (a/b) + (c/d) = (ad + bc)/bd.

Turn the fraction into the Decimal. You can do mixed numbers and fractions wrtiten like this (1/58) using a TI-15 calculator from Texas Instruments (the company). lol i know that and i am in 6th grade!

If you are alright with a decimal, then divide the fractions (since fractions are just division) then add the two answers. However, if you need to come up with a fraction at the end, you need to make both denominators (bottom parts) the same. by multiplying both the top and bottom numbers by the same number on each fraction.

By converting into decimals, and you may have to turn it to percentages first.... ex:
1/2= 50%= 0.50
3/4= 75%= 0.75
4/4=100%= 1.00
Think of a dollar being a 100% (1.00). And thats all i can say to that degree. I know theres some equation much simpler but it cant remember...

Just use the / symbol. Or convert them to decimals, then later go into "math" (on a TI-83) and "Frac" and it will convert it back to fraction.

If you observe that all the denominators are the same in this case, you can add all the numerators and divide the result by 24
