she only bites us girls, and only seems to bite our exposed skin, eg our necks or around the collar of our clothes.
she is quite calm and not aggressive, and gets cleaned out every day without fail, but it really hurts when she bites!

Hmmmm.......I hate to say it but, it sounds like you are scared. Mabey the first time she bit you she was playing and now when you are around her you are scared she is going to bite you and she senses your fear. My rabbit did the same but, I just started tapping her lightly on the nose (they hate that!) every time she bit me.

If she is 6 months old she is becoming mature and has hormones raging round her little body. Spaying will calm her down though once operated on she will take a week or so to calm down and until then become more aggressive as she experiences a huge surge in hormones straight after the op. Keep her restricted after the op for a few days so she doesn't rip her stitches and make sure she is eating and pooing OK. Girls take a little longer to recover after this op as it is a bigger op, but she will calm down. If she is still a little touchy when you hold her, sit on the floor holding her food in your hand, With the other hand stroke the top of her head. Over time she will allow you to stroke her body and then you will be a le to handle her. some bunnies just never like to be held, but spaying will definitely help. I work at a rescue and we make sure all the girls are neutered ( as are the boys) to help calm them down, Also after the age of 4, 85% will develop uterine cancer so this is also a preventative op. Good luck and make sure you use a vet who deals with lots of rabbits.

My rabbit started doing this a few years ago too. I bought a salt lick and she didn't bite anymore. A friend told me rabbits need salt in their diets and we have salt on our skins. They bite us because they want the salt on our skin. You can buy these at a pet shop. It is worth a try. Remember, you must always have water available for your rabbit to drink as it will make them thirsty.

It's probably a "love bite". Rabbits tend to give love bites to those they are affectionate with. She probably doesn't bite your boyfriend because she isn't as affectionate with him as she is with you and your mom.

To teach a rabbit not to bite, let out a scream when she bites you so she learns that she's hurting you. Eventually she'll learn.

My rabbit usually only bites me and not my mom. Does your rabbit lick both you and your mom? If she does, she's just being affectionate with you.

Hang in there!

its probably the soap you wash with or the perfume that you wear that it is taking a liking to, also cleaning her out EVERY day is likely to aggravate her as your moving things when she gets them jus how she wants them. try jus adding a little hay and cleaning once a week. Imagine how you'd feel if your home was rearranged every day would that not annoy you?

First, I'd start considering how you might be handling the rabbit different than your boyfriend. Notice differences where you can.

Secondly, you might take into consideration any perfumes (smells, odors) you are wearing that might be causing it.
