Sociopathy is chiefly characterized by something wrong with the person's conscience. They either don't have one, it's full of holes like Swiss cheese, or they are somehow able to completely neutralize or negate any sense of conscience or future time perspective. Sociopaths only care about fulfilling their own needs and desires - selfishness and egocentricity to the extreme. Everything and everybody else is mentally twisted around in their minds as objects to be used in fulfilling their own needs and desires. They often believe they are doing something good for society, or at least nothing that bad. The term "sociopath" is frequently used by psychologists and sociologists alike in referring to persons whose unsocialized character is due primarily to parental failures (usually fatherlessness) rather than an inherent feature of temperament. Lykken (1995), for example, clearly distinguishes between the sociopath (who is socialized into becoming a psychopath) and a "true" psychopath (who is born that way). However, this may only describe the "common sociopath", as there are at least four (4) different subtypes -- common, alienated, aggressive, and dyssocial. Commons are characterized mostly by their lack of conscience; the alienated by their inability to love or be loved; aggressives by a consistent sadistic streak; and dyssocials by an ability to abide by gang rules, as long as those rules are the wrong rules. As Stout (2005) indicates, it only takes three of the following to be defined as a sociopath, and some common sociopathic traits include:

You asked for my opinion, so here goes.
"If being a sociopath means I'm too stubborn to give up on something I firmly believe is right, then I am one."
Bush: Good man, good president. Probably not one of the best, but he was right for this time. Not the smartest, but certainly not dumb, and certainly better than the alternatives.
Disagree with policy, fine. Disagree with methods, fine. But disagree. This crap some of you have been spewing for 6yrs now is not just disagreement, its hate. Brewing from where, I am not sure. Either way, no matter what you say or do, George Bush will be remembered in history as a good man, a good president, who believed in something noble and stubbornly stuck to it.
So I would appreciate it if some of you showed more respect to our president, my president, from now on. Please, continue to disagree - that is welcome...that is America. But stop the ignorant hate-speech and just maybe you might be pleasantly suprised to find more willing ears and minds in the future.
No, I dont know all the facts. I havent read all the articles and books and scoured over interviews of so-called "experts". For one, neither do any of you, and two, I dont really need to. And might I add, none of us here could have been a president for the last 6yrs and done any better.

No, but there are many who, uninformed, are easily deceived into believing such a thing.
Bush's job is to lead based upon often unreleased intelligence, not watch or, abide by opinion polls.
He is presently involved in trying to stop the killing of innocent Iraqis and protect their right to survive as a sovereign nation, while simultaneously protecting American lives at home.
His approval rating is actually over 34%. There are 5 different major polling agencies and the liberals you see quoting 28% are quoting the lowest poll only. There lie your true sociopaths.

Most presidents will attempt to change things to the way THEY want it, regardless of America's opinion- it's just a matter of how many Americans agree with them that determines how good or bad they are, by opinion of society.
However- we can't simply say that it's all Bush's fault. It's easiest to blame him, as he's the head-honcho, but a lot of it was Congress, and a lot was also Rumsfield and Cheney. Blame them all for making our country suck these past years!
And at a 28% approval rate, the lowest in the nation's history for a president, I think that his supporters should take a step back and try to see some faults.

Running a country like the U.S.A. shouldn't be done with emotions such as compassion... You need to be a leader and make decisions made on common sense, You can't take in condideration of how others are going to feel.. Bush was elected to be president and he is doing just that. It's not a movie star position where you cater to your fans... It's a serious Job where you do what you believe is best for the people. And you make these accusations about him as if you are sure.. Well give us facts, show us what you mean by he only cares about what he wants!!!

OMG Please stop you are making me agree with her again (Hiya Kimmie)
When are people going to stop this neither Bush nor Clinton were/ are sociopaths. They are good men trying to do a hard job. You may disagree with them politically but that does not in and of itself make a person evil. Bush is clearly in over his head. But I would have a drink with him in a heartbeat.
Are you old enough to remember Nixon? Or Johnson? There you go to true sociopaths back to back. But not Clinton or Bush

Do you even know what a sociopath is?
I would look at the motives of everyone involved. Bush does not have to worry about re-election. He can do what he thinks is right without having to cater to the morons in either party. He has vision and knows that it will be easier to defeat the enemy now rather than later. Look at the motives of his critics in Congress. They are either running for president or need to get re-elected and must position themselves to that end. Why would you trust any of them when they have political motives to consider?
