Two reasons: First, that'd cost them on a higher level if they did so. Karma. Second, maybe they have enough, and are merely helping others. It's a bit of a conundrum to decide whether or not to charge money for services. Free advise is seldom valued, and so would be wasted. But charging suggests you need the bucks. So what's a psychic to do???

I would think firstly that 98% of all supposed psychics are fakes with a magic eight ball. The remaining 2% have an abysmal rate of predictions based on the very real fact that human actions effects the outcome. Think on it. The many world theory states that for every decision there is an infinite number of possible outcomes all played out in different dimensions, or parallel worlds. So if you have five psychics all predicting the future and only one prediction comes to pass. Does it mean the other four predictions didn't come true? It would go to reason that those gifted with sight are prevented from using that gift for selfish means.

If you consider how vague 'readings' are from psychics you can see how even if they were genuine it would be difficult to forecast lottery numbers - 'is it a 6, no it's a 5, or is it an 8?'

Because usually, when someone does have psychic ability that it never works with the same level of accuracy or ease as using a web browser.
It's usually just intuitions or feelings about something, usually just good idea, bad idea, and occasionally a bit more information.
Oh, you must be one of those Rational Skeptics, that thinks that if they can come up with some little brilliant logical thing they can point out, everyone else will suddenly look around, acknowledge your brilliance, and then realize we are all fools for thinking for ourselves, and decide to think just like you...my hero.
All I can say is...Fuzzy Bunny Slippers.

Many psychics believe it is wrong to use their gift for personal gain or at least to only ask for what they truly need and maybe a little bit extra but not to be greedy.

Because they saw what a hassle it would be for themselves and their families and decided to pass on it. In some cases, because it's legalized gambling and they don't indulge. And in other cases, they do win and just don't tell the media how.
