You don't know that honesty is the best policy utill you have tried other methods I think everyone makes mistakes and that is how they learn the right way of handling a situation, some people never learn and that is what makes us all human.

You don't however I think it's impossible to not have tried out the others. Children learn this from an early age by hiding and lying. They learn it's wrong by the consequences that happen when they get caught. If a parent communicates with their child regularly about the importance of telling the truth the concept is reinforce even further.

I believe God's way (including honesty) is the best way. I can learn from others' mistakes, without experiencing the sadness and suffering sin causes.

I'm willing to bet that saying was invented by someone who had tried those others. Wouldn't you rather have everyone tell you the truth all the time? It builds trust and shows reliability.

I don't think it is. I haven't got where i am (not ultra far admittedly) without lying a hell of a lot and i have a wife, two kids, nice house and car and nice holidays, mostly through hard work but backed up by little white lies.

you dont! unless that one time, you get caught in a lie, and then you truly know what it feels like to say" damn why didnt i just tell the truth",lol but thats my opinions
