Addiction, and a thought that right before they develop lung cancer, they can stop then and don't have to worry about it now. I mean, I smoked one, didn't really like it, but didn't hate it. Then a second, then a third, then a fourth, then a fifth. By the fifth I got so sick that I couldn't even stand the smell, but I got over that I could easily do it again, but then you have to draw the line somewhere. On MySpace I put 'no' for smoking/drinking, but if I smoke a sixth, it wouldn't really be true I think.

I can't speak for anyone but me. I smoke because I enjoy it. In 47 years of smoking I have no physical proplems due to it. I am 63, I take no over the counter or prescription drugs. I exercise with and keep up with people 25 years younger than me. I can afford to buy them and as long as things stay the same I will continue to smoke when and where I can politely do so.

well lets see.....addiction??????? what in the hell is wrong with people? we spend so much time busting on people for smoking ciggerates. they smoke for the same reason some people drink till they puke while others eat till they puke.addiction!!i think its great they have the anti smoking ads for kids its a nasty habit.but so is alot of other things.yet we make someone who smokes feel like s**t . go ask alcholics why they still drink though their livers are rotted or a heavy set person why they still eat everything in site even though their blood pressure and sugar are sky high. now heres my question for you. should we just put all whine asses out of their misery now since they will eventually b**ch themselves to death some day any way?

YES it is that addicting, its awful. They say its harder to kick then heroin.Have you ever seen a junkie trying to kick heroin? If it were so easy to kick we wouldn't be at the mercy of the tobacco company's who say its safe to smoke, all the while knowing we are like rats on a wheel in a cage go around and around for our next fix, until we can no longer take a breath without an oxygen tank, and pretty soon that can't even save us and we die,an untimely horrible painful death.

Yes It is the nicotine that is so addicting!!!!!!!! But I have seen pictures of before and afters and the results arent good ( they are really terrible!)! Yellow teeth, Wrinkles, The inside of your lungs just looks like a slimy wrinkled jellyfish fish smothered in black tar!!!! What most people dont realize is that ciggarettes ARE a DRUG!!!! just like marijuana, cocaine, ANYTHING except for the fact that it is legal!!! OMG i am so glad they had a partial smoking ban in Ohio area.

I know a lot of people that smoke and want to stop but they can't. Its because they're already addicted to the nicotine in the cigarettes which they need every single day.

People who've been smoking since the 40s, 50s, 60s, and even prior to that--can certainly not quit cold turkey. It was done by all back then, and not yet known to be dangerous.
It's the young people who start out--knowing of the dangers--which the older people did not--that I can't understand.

Studies suggest that it is more addictive than heroine. I guess the answer would be somewhere along the lines of, same reason the fat girl eats three more boxes of cookies when she knows she's gonna have a heart attack. There may be a price involved, but there is an immediate reward involved too.

I am a smoker and yes I care and yes it's that addicting. I really do not want to stop right now. I think you have to be really ready. And I'm just not. Yes, I know it stinks, it's expensive, it can kill you etc etc, but so can cars and chicken wings. Maybe I am choosing my death. But I'd rather people like you mind your own business when it comes to my habits. We've already been kicked out of buildings and scorned by nonsmokers to no end. Let us all live our lives as we see fit.

Yes, it is that addicting. I have tried to stop more than 5 times and am still a amoker.
Studies have shown it is just as hard to stop smoking as it is to kick a heroin addiction.
