Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer.
The XR250 has been made since 1979.
Every bike is different.

if you still have the old plug it will say the size on part of the spark plug

What kind is the old plug that is already in it? You may want to use the same one.
