Does the people use it often? Or we can just stick with regular D (Driving) mode throughout the lifetime of the car. What difference does it make to the handeling/ longetivity of the engine?

The times you would use D3 or D2 would be for towing, which if this vehicle is a car I doubt you would be towing with it. These ranges are also useful if you are in mountainous terrain rather than having the transmission continuously shifting into and out of overdrive (4th gear) you would use D3 or D2 depending on the terrain to keep the transmission from shifting uneccessarily which will lengthen the life of the transmission.

most of the newer ones now its better to just drive it in drive all the time or if it has the d with the circle around it,you can drive it there also, drive 2 is just for climbing real steep hills, and very seldom ever used, the transmission will automatically shift to the gear it needs to be in anyway so driving in d will be fine, good luck hope this helps.
