Dogs rule. Cats drool.
Dog is man's best friend(or woman, whichever the case may be). Can a cat save your life? Dogs can swim, bark/bite intruders and call 9-1-1. Okay, maybe not that last one, but with proper training and a big button phone, it is at least a possiblity ; )

It depends on your personal likes and dislikes. Dog-haters argue that dogs are mindless and do only as they say, which is arguably a benefit. Cat-lovers argue that their cats are smarter and are capable of having deeper relationships. In the end, it's based on your preference.
I'd choose a dog just because I'd rather deal with the stereotypical active love and attention that dogs supposedly have to offer. Cats around my neighborhood like to roam and leech food from neighbors, which makes it feel like they don't care as much for their owners.

I would pick a dog b/c they actually will play w/ u but if u want a pet that can b ok on its own then get a cat. I just got me a new puppy!!

It all depends on the type of person you are. Dogs are more friendly and outgoing, so if you have energy and a playful nature, a do would be perfect. Also, if you love the outdoors dogs make great companions.
If you are more relaxed and laidback, and tend to just do your own thing, cats would be perfect. They aren't too hig matenence and enjoy lounging around the house.

We have a dog and love her but they are so high maintenance. I only have her for my boys.
I would pick a cat because you can pet them and then walk away, they don't follow you and drool on you. Also you can walk in the front door without 70 lbs of fur hitting you!

A dog, they seem like they would play alot more than a freakuin cat, cats are snooty SOB's. I 'm gona go with the dog.
