Aren't you forgetting that under Communism, athletes were given the best of everything? They were treated like royalty, while teachers and regular working people were nothing but slaves to enrich the Communist ruling class.
You obviously forgot that, under Communism, gymnastic stars and others were given perks that would make Donald Trump blush.
I remember back in the late 1960's, sports coverage was so minimal that at Chicago Bulls basketball games, the reporter would just call in his story from a payphone. He would just dictate it. There were no splashy photos, no million dollar contracts. No season coverage on tv. However, fans decided to turn athletes into demi gods, and now they are pampered multi-millionaires.
Forget Communism. All it does is make practically everyone poor, while the elite Communist Party Bosses live like kings.
If you're thinking about Socialism, forget that too. As the brilliant former Prime Minister of England, Margaret Thatcher once observed, "The problem with Socialism is eventually you run out of other peoples' money to spend".

What a stupid question. Athletes that perform like teachers wouldn't even have a job. Teachers are overpaid, period. They only work 2/3 of the year (yeah, 180 days, do the math, losers. 180 days / 5 days per week = 36 weeks. They get 16 weeks off, who else works this little?) They're not accountable, can't be fired, despite what they claim. In New York alone with 80,000 teachers, less than 5 get fired each year. And they themselves acknowedge it's not the parents fault, it's teachers who suck, the proof is that they send their own kids to private school at a rate DOUBLE what everyone else does.

In our capitalist democracy we pay for things and have the choice to do so. Anyone who graduates college can be a teacher, and that teacher has an influence on hundreds of children. Few of us are blessed with the ability to be a professional athlete and athletes are observed by millions. It is our choice to watch them, and if we chose to stop watching their pays would decrease. How much are you willing to spend educating your children? If there were millions of people in the classroom and spread that out among the participating families, then educators would receive millions. But the quality of education would be negatively affected. Would you want to pay one teacher more for a lesser education or pay many teachers less for a greater one?

What??? Communism would never work successfully b/c people are so corrupt....and in a communist system, both the sports player and the teacher would have NOTHING....You should really appreciate our system...Teachers make more in money, benefits, and (summer vacations) then you think they do!...

Both are money based so both systems fall short of the mark. Get rid of the money, no problem.
