I have seen some of them fight at little league baseball games. Also, little girl beauty pageants. What's the deal?

i know i do. my mom was a divorced parent and she worked all the time so i got to do very little. i don't fight at games but here is what i do get the kids to do:

1. they started gymnastics at ages 4 and 6, they claimed they didn't like it so we quit for a year. of course a year later they wanted to rejoin since they missed it, now ages 5 & 7

2. i asked them did they wanna join soccer and we watched some on tv first to show them what they'd have to do. they loved it. won't be able to do that this year due to gymnastics, but that was the kids' choice.

3. first sat. of the month we go to home depot to the kids workshops where they build a new craft each month with our help. they cry if we don't take them. we've been going since november of last year.

4. second sat. of every month we go to the lowe's build and grow workshops where they also build a new craft. they also cry to go there. also going since november.

5. put the oldest in basketball for one season, didn't like it so we didn't put her in again. youngest said she'd rather do the lowes and home depots since games are on satrudays.

6. put the oldest in t-ball, didn't have interest, dug in the dirt. didnt' make her rejoin.

7. take the kids to an amusement park at least once a month in the summer. they love it.

8. we will be going to disney for the second time this summer. no crying there that they don't wanna go.

9. all their friends are in dance class and they wanted to join for the last year so we signed them up this year and they love it.

10. we go camping every summer, we purchased an older motor home---kids love cooking marshmallows on the fire and gathering firewood.

11. took the kids to swimming lessons at the Y, they loved it.

i do alot with the girls since i got to do so little as a child. i was also an only child and had a lonely childhood so i made sure when i had kids that i'd at least have two so they wouldn't be totally lonely. i am proud of what my kids get to do. it's more family together time than anything. whether you realize it or not, the things you do now is because of how you were raised. think about it....

I'm a mom, with boys, so obviously it would be hard for my boys to be Miss Merry Christmas or the Homecoming Queen, but I think, from my observations, it is a desire for the kids to *do more, be more, have more* then the parents as children had.
I do desire for my kids to be tops in what they attempt, and I am willing to go the extra mile..but I stop well before making an *** out of myself.. that absolutely teaches them nothing except to be embarrassed of me.
Other than that..I think some people are just morons who try to not only keep up with the Joneses...but surpass them as well..at any exspense or personal cost..
There's medication for behavior like that..lol.

Parents can chew out a kid in little league.
They need to let the kids play and save the outrageous attitudes for the big league games.

This is true. And the little girl beauty pageants should be out lawed. Little girls should look like little girls not like whores with make up and little sexy dresses.

My husband and our son had the same Karate classes for about 2 years. Now, I am preparing my 2 yo for swimming,
I am ready to follow her.

yeah, my parents do it a little...i think its just because they want their kids to experience what they didn't get to and have a better life than they did. like...trying to give them hints on how to live n' all.

Yes some do.My sister is like that with her daughter.....It's kinda sad. I always let my kids do what they wanted too and never pushed them into anything.

yea and it spoils it for everyone. the kids learn to compete for the wrong reasons.
And when they start fighting or yelling that makes me sick! ♥
