As I look out on all of the people gathered here to celebrate Max and Marsha’s wedding, I think that each one of you can be thought of as a book. A book that adds new chapters as life goes on. Today my sister Marsha will start a new chapter in her book as will Max. Both of their chapters will probably be titled, “Our Wedding.” The chapter will tell of the excitement and joy of this special day when they joined together to become one.
It is my hope that the next chapters in their books will be ones that tell of the wonders of being newly married, of finding answers to the little things that make up a marriage like who cleans the toilet, who washes the dishes, and the most important of all - who will own the remote control for the TV?
That chapter will close when it is time for my new niece or nephew to come along and a new chapter titled, “Our Bundle of Joy.” It will contain the instructions for raising the perfect child, but unfortunately they will be in a foreign language! It doesn’t matter as love, with the help and advice of family and friends, will show them the way to raise their son or daughter.
Chapters will continue to be added as their lives go on. Perhaps there will be more sons and daughters chapters? There will be chapters on “Our New House”, or “Disneyland Vacation.” There will be happy chapters as well as sad chapters because that is life. But through all those chapters will be family and friends because that too, is life.
Then one day there will be a chapter entitled “25th Wedding Anniversary.” It is my sincere hope that on that day we will all be here together celebrating this marriage again. So let us all make a bookmark today to remind us that 25 years from now, we will all create a chapter in our own books titled, “Max and Marsha’s 25th Wedding Anniversary Celebration!” Let us toast to their chapter now, and in the future!

How about something you're strongly interested in. I can't tell you what that is. Here are some hints. Practice in front of a mirror. Actually talking out loud. Practice in front of a trusted friend. Actually talking out loud.
Now, here's the outline.
Start with an opening statement. The main point of your talk.
Next make a statement stating the three items you're going to talk about.
Next go over the three items in detail, one at a time.
Next make a concluding statement.
That's it, you're done.
Practice exhaustively until you know exactly what you're going to say.
Include all the main points. Don't get side-tracked.
Is this plan too simple? No, it's a sure A.

Hm...okay...As far as tips go:
1. Be casual {pretend to be comfortable :) }- there are very few things as annoying as someone who is about to die at the podium.
2. BE LOUD (If the person in the back cannot hear you it is not loud enough)
3. Enunciate...part of this is not going too quickly. When people get nervous, they want to speed up- not good. Try to keep a pace in mind and stay close to it.
4. Make eye contact with your audience (make sure you get your teacher a few times too ;)
5. Do something with your hands!!! Unless you have to hold papers try not to. Keep gestures above the waist and natural.
As far as subject goes...? Do what you love. If you like computers...maybe something about a couple being compatible like computers at an anniversary party...? It is kind of unclear what is meant by "special occasion."

How far has technology come since the light bulb and where do we see it going in 20 years. Ben Franklin would be in awe if only he could where his discovery has gone. Without his discovery we could not have even sent a man to the moon and monitored his every move. Now we have moved into a new phase of wireless but to get there we needed his discovery of the light bulb. Can it get better. You bet! Man is always working on improvements. Lets walk down memory lane and look back to the first TV, radio, computer, phone, and even video games.......(sorry from here you are on your own, I have no way on how to finish this)

Um...maybe you could do something about how the internet has pros and cons, but how technology is also a hindrance and it's easy to get addicted to it all. Something about how technology is as addictive as gambling.
I'm not sure about a "Special Occasion," but you mentioned liking computers, and I once made a speech on a topic like I just mentioned.

Think of an occasion from your past that especially interested you and you'll soon come up with ideas to draw from. It's best to use your personal experience then you can embellish it as required. If you speak from the heart, you will not need cuecards and your speech will flow.Good luck.

Attraction is the most interesting one to me, but since you're in 8th grade... maturity could be a factor. Weather is probably a safe bet. Pretty boring, but not as boring as the ocean, and if you have a visual aid (like a powerpoint), the class could get really into it.
