Get a squirrel-sized Hav-a-Hart live trap. Bait it with nuts or acorns. The squirrels go in through the open ends and touch the bait trigger and the end panels come down and latch shut. Then pick it up by the top handle, put it in a big bag (to calm the squirrel), and drive it about three miles away. Tip the trap over and the squirrels will escape and not find their way back. I did that all last summer and averaged about a squirrel per day until they were rare.

Do what "JC" says and you could end up with the EPA at your door with a big fine. In my state, you'll also be looking at 2 to 5 years in jail for animal abuse. Not to mention the fact that the anti-freeze will end up back into the water table. I won't even began what I think about "Borris". You sound like you're not happy but you don't really want to hurt the squirrels. It's true that you can start feeding them as far away from the house as possible. If you have trees, you can build squirrel houses for them and put them on the trees away from your house. Both of these will help if they are trying to get into your house because they are looking for food or shelter. Another option, I don't know if you have a Harbor Freight Store or a farm store where you live, but you can get a "Harold The Hoot Owl" or two to place where the squirrels usually climb up. I believe that Menard's has them too. They take two AA batteries and they hoot whenever something pasts in front of them. They are a squirrels natural predator. You may want these things before going for the trapping. Good Luck

Nothing is foolproof. Dogs work but only to chase them away once they enter your yard. But squirrels are persistent and will keep coming back. BB gun works and doesn't kill them if you use a .177 cal spring type. If you use a .22 air or pump type it will kill them. But again squirrels will learn about BB guns and run the second you grab it. Then when you leave they do come back. Now if you happen to hit one with a BB gun they don't come back for the rest of the day.

Get some peppermint oil and douse cotton balls with them and then place them wherever the squirrels are bothering you. They are allergic to the oil, and shouldn't return. If you can't find peppermint oil in your area, you can try to use synthetic wolf urine, and just spray the areas of problem.

Get a Rat Terrior dog!! It's their specialty! You MAYBE can ( I say MAYBE because I don't know the laws where you live) set rat traps on your roof, also. This might keep them from taking shingles off your roof.
