I don't think so. It's probably the dialup. I started with dialup. Downloads and upgrades took forever and many times they cut out halfway through. I gave in and went cable. Unbelievably faster.

if you havn't already, call your isp. dont think mcafee or yahoo mess would do it. sounds like the connection is causing time outs, not a good connection otherwise. but you can uninstall yahoo messenger and surf a little after you reboot, just to see if the same thing happens.

Yahoo messenger is probably not the culprit unless it only happens when you are using that program. If you have call waiting on your phone line, you need to disable it while on the internet or it can knock you off. To do that, you need to put *70 before the access number you dial to get on the net.

Possibly and possibly not it all depends. Have you tried not running messenger and seeing if it kicks you out then if it doesn't then you found your problem. If it does then you may wanna get your computer checked out or reconfigure something to see what it going on.

I use Windows Live OneCare and am very happy with it. However, it will take around two hours to get it downloaded and installed with a dial-up. Also, once installed, it will pester you to do a back-up (my back up took six CD's). Once you've done the back up, it will be fine and efficient

Me too.
It's very annoying, but I put up with it. The ISP probably does it so you will go to higher speed.
Not me. I'll find another ISP first.
