Stands for 'Reply', hence it only appears when you reply to an email.
Wouldn't stand for 'Regarding' because 'Subject (line)' in the email means the same thing.

It means the email contexts is regarding the body in one or two words for example.
You want to tell someone a phone number and address so in the subject you put what it is regarding which is Contact Information.
then in the actual email it will have the phone number and address information.

RE stands for reference or regarding. You put the reason for the e-mail there.

It is a shorter form of "in re" which means "in the case of"; "with reference to"... it is used in law. When "we" use it here, (emails and the like) it means "refering to" or, (as your other answers indicate), "regarding". More or less the same difference, as this is not a court of law...}:>

If you have the [spam] tag in your emails, it means that the sender's anti-spam tagged the email. The "6.6" or "6.4" something, i think that is the version of a spam. It's best that you delete that right away because it is a possible spam
