Hey sweetie, the best way to do it is by having a healthy brain. Remember that your mind uses the brain to function and the brain is a physical part of your body just like your stomach is. If your stomach was upset you could take something to fix your stomach. The same thing with your brain. Believe it or not, when you cannot block negative thoughts out of your mind it is due to a chemical imbalance. Neutransmitters in the brain such as Serotonin and Dopamine could be low and your brain isn't functioning well. Try going to CVS or Walgreens and buy 5-HTP, Vitamin B6, B12, Folic Acid, Fish Oil, and a multivitamin and then exercise and eat right. Remember, what you eat determines how healthy your body functions. When your brain becomes healthy again, then you will be able to block out the negative thoughts a whole lot easier through meditation and prayer and your mood will be improved. I love you sweetie and hope you aren't feeling sad. :(

As a former Xian, I can happily say that my life has been much better since giving up that mumbo jumbo. As for perceptions, I will gladly accept any evidence you offer, and will evaluate it with an open mind, but until you can show me why I should believe the way you do, I will not. As long as there are tangible answers to my questions, I won't stoop to mythology, and if there aren't answers, that's ok too. We don't know everything, but I KNOW the omnipotent, omnibenevolent, omniscient God of the Bible is a logical impossibility. Your long pseudo-intellectual question offers no evidence to the contrary; so I will carry on with my lack of belief.

I think of something fun I would like to do, or think of a pleasant memory to lift my spirits. I know how tough that is to remove negative feelings, and forgive me for being religious... But what always gives me the greatest positive blockers to negative feelings is praying or singing a church hymn. Well I hope that your thoughts will be more pleasant. Good Luck, and have a good day!

By thinking of positive thoughts, both cannot exist at the same time.
But it helps to be well rested and take your vitamins, for some reason when I'm tired or hungover, I'm a lot more negative.

It's hard--but sometimes I complain, or try to watch a movie or something that makes me laugh. I always have negative thoughts when I'm stressed.

It's a mental trick.
I simply chose to focus on the positive and find the opportunity and think from that perspective.
It may seem pollyannish, but it actually works.

I crank up some tunes and disappear in it for a while. It gets me out of my head so I can re-evaluate the situation later.
