All things being equal, what are your opinions of him musically? Can he really be compared to great artists of the past? Does he have any kind of business singing urban/soul music?

Justin doesn't have a soul voice. I think he is aiming more for the hip hop and pop scene. Some of his songs have soul qualities but he isn't soulful. He wants to be in the R & B and hip hop section. Whoever plays him on Soul and R & B stations might think he is soulful. He's a great entertainer and singer on the pop side but of course he will never make a big mark on the soul side. Some one like Robin Thicke is soulful...

Justin Timberlake is nothing more than urban influenced pop. And the only reason why it's urban influenced he and the record label know where the money is. It's a fact that the black community spends like no other. Whatever happened to his "love for the sistas?" Or why does he only hang around black people in the studio? Or why does he try to act hard by bragging about his drug binges, and complains about not being a respected artist in the urban genre, when he just hosted a Nikelodeon event? No, don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on him because he's white (Robin Thicke, Amy Winehouse, Jon B, Teena Marie, and Michael McDonald are up there with the bests); I'm hating on him because I know he's using the black community, because we all know damn well if pop music all of a sudden made a comeback he'd be poping and locking with the other 4.

Yes he is. But his music can't be compared to great artists of the past. He chooses to sing urban/soul music probably since that's what he likes plus he's making millions off of it and managed to overcome his N'Sync teenybopper image quite well. So a lot of people must find him to be legitimate.

He can sing whatever he wants to. He has talent. Why do some black people hate him for singing that kind of music? R&B and Soul is not just black folks music! (By the way, I'm black). No artists are really doing their own kind of music. So, there's lots of "copying" going on.

i see some of yall dont know good entertainment, but its yall opinion. he's a great dancer and i good singer. he's been doin his thing since he was young and he came a long way. He does have some unique sound because he gets some of his inspiration from urban/soul artist.

yes. justin timberlake has been winning awards for his singing since he was a lil boy. He was also on the disney show where they "sing and play" but he's a terrible urban wannabe.

I think Justin has a very nice voice and to top it off, he can dance and has a look that makes people look past the fact that is not the typical African American singer. You don't have to be African American to have soul and he , Tina Marie, Pink, JossStone, Jo Jo and Robin Thicke proove.
