The guy who pulled the trigger was Lee Harvey Oswald but there are many theories about who was really behind it. He might have just been a hired hit man. He had a Russian connection but there is another theory that Cuban Americans were behind it because Kennedy pulled out the last minute during the Bay of Pigs Invasion and that's why it failed, which upset many Cuban Americans. Who knows. Jack Ruby killed Lee Harvey Oswald before they could interrogate him.

History records Lee Harvey Oswald as the culprit, mind you riding in a open top car was a fateful decision. The Curse of the Kennedy's left to many unanswered questions.

If you believe Robin Ramsay, the author of "Who Shot JFK?", the triggerman was probably one Malcolm "Mac" Wallace, at the instigation of a group of Texan businessmen including Lyndon B. Johnson.

Wallace's fingerprint was positively identified a few years ago as having been found in the Texas School Book Depository just after the killing.

In Jack Anderson's book he points to the KGB, but the US halted the investigation because the Russians wouldn't back down again like they did in Cuba. All of this is pure speculation though, I don't think we will ever truly know.

Nobody really knows. It is most likely a man the government apprehended named Lee Harvey Oswald, but there isn't enough evidence to incriminate him.
