A few weeks ago, at a family member's funeral, a family "friend" said something to another family friend about the deceased. We weren't told about what the person said until later when we happen to find out through someone else by mistake. Would you call this "friend" or write a letter to them concerning what was said, or just leave it alone?

I would call them out on it. That's just how I roll.

Sometimes people say things w/o thinking first. If you can't live w/o calling them on it then do so but if it is not the biggest problem you have right now then just let it go. I try not to look for trouble. Best wishes w/that.
Another thing is that what was said and what was heard may be different.

I would leave this one alone. Emotions run so high, and a confrontation can't possibly lead to anything good.

You found out that a friend isn't a friend. Now you know to avoid them.

Concentrate on getting through your grief. You know in your heart how wonderful your loved one was. Don't let anyone minimize it with petty grievances or disrespectful behavior.

never leave it alone
it WILL eat you up
so go FACE to FACE and tell them off, do not listen to their sniveling little lies of why they said it, but just for kicks, ask them first then walk right over them and give it to them but GOOD!
you will feel better for doing this
and it won't eat you up for years

good luck
