BoA is a good choice for quantity. They have ownership of all the former FleetBank locations. But, you can do fine with other banks too.

CItizens has pretty good coverage, Century is growing, and Sovereign has a very well placed netwrok of ATMs.

You can also go the small bank route, as many are connected and free through the SUM ATM network. This includes banks like Hyde Park Savings, Peoples Federal Savings, and most credit unions.

TD Banknorth is increasing its presence in the city as well.

It is definitely Bank of America. Although they have the most branches, they seemingly have the most fees. I have Citizens and they have good customer service and pretty convenient atms, including in most Store 24s and T stations.

It looks like Bank of America wins the quantity prize. Now if only they were also tops in quality they would be a winner.
