Some girls don't have a hymen to begin with, others tear or stretch theirs during sports, or horseback riding or using tampons or even when self masturbating.
Not all girls bleed. I didn't.

The bleeding is from breaking the hymen, which is a thin membrane in the vagina that girls are born with. However, some girls may be born with a really thin hymen and even break it during strenous exercise growing up OR it may break reallly easily with very little or no bleeding during the first time they have sex.
If your partner is let's say "small" and/or gentle the hymen may not tear.
So bleeding doesn't necessarily have to occur when you lose your virginity, but most of the time it does because your hymen is still intact.

Not everyone will bleed. We're all just a little bit different, it's just that most of us will experience bleeding of various degrees.
No judgments, but just as good health advice for any young woman, please see a gynecologist and make sure that you're protecting yourself. The doctor can give you better advice than any of us at Yahoo! Answers.

having sex for the first time doesn't mean that the girl WILL bleed. every girl's different. don't freak out. if you think something's wrong, get it checked out.

Did you have sex? If you did, then it is. If you didn't, it's not. Unless you've ever used a tampon. Or ridden a bicycle. Or a horse. Or masturbated. It's popped darling.
