for best results use the same ...like 512 and 512..., plus you need to know what your board supports. dont mix!!

if your bios supports that much yes. If the bios doesnt allow that much you will just get the 1 gb

if your system will support 1.5gb sure but if it only supports1gb it won't recognize the 512gb

Go here: http://www.crucial.com/index.asp and do a scan, it would tell you what you can do.
