Ive been wanting to do this for awhile now and am finally taking the initiative to start producing. Ive looked at several websites(bestbuy, circuit city, guitar center) to browse keyboards but dont know which to buy. I hvae already decided to use Sony ACID software. And I guess I still don't know what exactly MIDI is and that there is a difference between that and the USB capability. If someone could clear this all up for me and suggest a keyboard. The keyboard I have now is Casio and about 8 years old, so it lacks all of todays technology. While I am not yet a professional, I would like to use a sufficient keyboard that will last me awhile, allow me to create a variety of beats and that is around or less than $200.

well buddy..for 200 bucks you won't get much that a beginnger can use. i mean you'll be able to get a midi keyboard..but if you don't understand midi..then it kinda defeats the purpose. here's why

all you really need is a midi keyboard. with that you can ADD ANY SOUNDS YOU FIND ON THE WEB (AND THERE ARE MILLIONS OUT THERE for free) to the keyboard and baaaaaam you have a lot of sounds ..again for free. midi is kinda annoying and sometimes hard for starters to understand but once you get the hang of the connection its all gravey.

but then you'd have to learn how to program youre midi keyboard by assiging the samples..etc..again gonna confuse a beginer.

if you go to many guitar centers.which i would start there..or second hand music stores..you can find plenty of good yamaha's there. that will actually be older than youre current but hold a lot of the same general midi sounds you hear in todays music..its not about the sound but the effects one applies to them to get a new sound.

don't look at best by or ciruit city you wont find much

but hey IF YOU HAVE A COMPUTER..then use SOFTWARE SNYTHS..and let me tell you with 200 bills you can get some good stuff out there. by A BETTER sequenceing software than acid. MY PICK FOR 20O BILLS is FLSTUDIO (www.flstudio.com) you'll love it and it comes with lots of good stuff and snyths (some you'll have to buy but then again you can find an unlimited amount of free vst's on line)

i've been producing music for over 15 years on the comp i have many top notch key boards (korgs, yamaha's)..but i can tell you this as much as i use them..i probably use my software more than anything else.

all the key boards simply give me more sounds.

and i have plenty of them as well.

incorrect, incorrect, incorrect. do not purchase a keyboard. placed money right into a actual acoustical piano with 88 keys. Why? happy you asked, that's consistently extra helpful to have the keys and not want them than to wish them and not have them. Pianos consistently look to have some resale fee. Keyboards like numerous digital stuff lose their fee in basic terms after some years. no person desires to purchase old technologies, they prefer to purchase the main recent and the best selection. maximum piano instructors will ask you what you would be training on. in case you're saying keyboard, maximum will say which would be ok for six months yet after which you may desire to get a actual piano. even however pianos and keyboards have black and white keys i think the keyboard is for somebody who already is familiar with a thank you to play, this is not for locating on. I very own the two a piano and a keyboard. the two are precise of the line of their respected field. I never felt i might desire to play extreme track on my keyboard. that's purely so distinctive from a actual piano. this is in basic terms enormous benefit is that that's portable. It weighs 80 lbs. My piano weighs a one thousand lbs and would not fit in a %. up truck. pass with a actual piano.
