The Iraqi's were a Republic, just like we are, when we invaded them.

I am sure they lifted some of ours, but I haven't read theirs so I don't know which ones.

Kind of irrelevant right now, don't you think?

In the large picture they are a progressive nation just like us. The difference is that our government and their government are using propaganda to influence world opinion. The spin and slants we have been working on are to limit their development and they are a progressive and modern country. The clerics have just as much power as our religious Christian brethren. Two different religions are a defining tolerance. The US has sent a team to Broker the writing of the constitution and this took more time to negotiate the clerics and politicians view of what should be excluded and included were the points of contention. The US would not have approved the constitution if it did not meet the committee standards. It was written from the constitution that we use in our Sovereign republic. No so romantic a start when you think about it. Sure they voted for the idea but in reality it is not their constitution really. We made it happen and they wanted the idea but it is obvious to me that many people are having trouble finding their way in a new republic with freedoms that are not really the system there. The clerics really run the public view, and they are opposed from the start.
