There's no atmosphere on the Moon. You wouldn't believe how much the atmosphere interferes with observations on Earth. That's why anyone who can raise the money puts a telescope in space instead. A telescope on the Moon would be like a telescope in space but a lot more stable, it could be a lot bigger, and if we had a moon base, it would be much more accessible to fix.

I agree, a low earth orbiting telescope like the Hubble and future such designs are a good idea because you can easily go up and perform maintenance when needed as opposed to going all the way to the moon.

Radio communications on earth would still interfere with a radio telescope in orbit. A radio telescope on the far side of the moon would be shielded from that.

It makes no sense to me either. It has some pretty violent temperature transitions to go through, will be in the dark with no solar power for 2 weeks.

gravity, even a weak one as the moon's, could help in some experiments, and make life easier for the scientists in terms of carrying out their chores and daily routine

because the moon has no contamination and the atmosphere is smaller and clearer.
