Having our freedom would not be considered liberal .(this means an end to 24 hour a day surveillance cctv,phone,bank records, warrantless searches and seizures by the police state )
Having a clean environment would not be a liberal thing .
Negotiation not war would not be a liberal thing .
The end to teaching delusional material to our youth in an effort to brainwash another generation into religious slavery would not be considered a liberal position . .

The only reason we have liberals is because stupid people can not accept reality and chose to label all intelligent people liberal .
While I agree with liberals on most thing I do disagree strongly on one point .
Your freedom of choice ends at conception and returns only when you are no longer responsible for another life .
So women always make sure you use proper birth control to insure that you will not lose your freedom and become a child bearing machine for the political right wingers .

So basically, you would like to do away with the United States of America, because you do not like the Liberal ideas of our founding fathers? Free Speech, the right of the common man to vote, separation of church and state, the election of our government officials? Yes, those were all quite liberal, challenging and in defiance of all the current forms of government at the time.

Cons would always rather live in the past, as in, "wasn't life better during the Reagan years?" Sorry, but the past is the past, Liberals are always looking forward, to the future.

I know, invade countries that pose no threat to us, suspend civil liberties in America, and, run for office on the ideas of smaller government and run up the deficit like a drunk with a credit card...whoops, Republicans did all that and America voted in Democrats in the elections last year. Well you can put them and muslims into concentration camps like your buddy Micheal Savage has suggested.

You can overthrow our elected government and create a theocratic christian government where people will be forced to obey your religious beliefs until penalty of confinement, torture, and death.

You can screw the feminists by taking women's right to vote. Keep em in the kitchen like God intended right?

You can do away with all the liberal civil rights laws of the 1960s. People will be promoted on the good old boy tradition.

You can eliminate environmental regulations and let corporations rule the day.

You can ban and burn books you disagree with like cons did during the Red Scare and McCarthy eras.

You can eliminate public education, state subsidized universities, student grants, and the socialist New Deal Era GI Bills for soldiers. From then on, only people born to rich parents will become educated.

You can censor all science including their godless evolution and big bang ideas. Who needs facts right when you can make your own reality?

You can eliminate freedom of speech. That will stop those hippie liberals from protesting.

You can remove the ban against religious tests for office and state establishment of religion clause in the constitution. From now on, only christian conservatives of the correct denomination (Southern Baptist, but not Mormons) will be able to hold office and enforce their beliefs.

1) Education: most liberals are atrociously ignorant about most things, especially economics. Raise the educational standards, which will weed out a lot of unqualified Liberal teachers. Make sure textbooks aren't biased.

2) Make Civics Class mandatory in school again. Most people with a Liberal slant have childish notions about our country, the premises upon which it was founded, our history, and what is actually written in the Constitution.

3) Force the press to be more responsible, fair and balanced in its reporting. Mainstream media is unbelievably biased. If God himself rode down on a shaft of light from heaven, surrounded by a choir of angels and said, "George W. Bush is doing my will", Liberals would retort: "Oh, Bush is such an @ss kisser. That's why God likes him".

4) Stop making Liberalism "cool and trendy". America's youth idolize semi-literate rappers, overpaid, whiny and petulant basketball stars, and other less than stellar role models.

5) Devise a way to have Conservative newspapers sprout up and compete with unbelievably biased entities like the New York Times (which published at least 46 front page articles on Abu Ghraib, but never report on all the wonderful things we have accomplished in Iraq)

The problem is not liberalism but what many who call themselves liberals have allowed that word to mean. The problem is socialism. When liberalism gave us politicians like FDR or Hubert Humphrey it was a decent and valid approach to solving problems in America. But back then, the goals were usually the same only the means was in dispute.

Nowadays we have a distinctive socialist cancer in the body politic. It has created far too many disciples of people who should know better. It's goals include the loss of free speech, the loss of moral absolutism, the loss of personal property rights, the loss of liberty and the redistribution of wealth.

To answer your question, we need not stamp out liberalism but we must cure the disease of socialism.
