It's supposed to be a catfish but it's a fraud. It's been circulating around the internet for years and the picture isn't real.

Here's the actual record Giant Mekong Catfish. It's clearly not the same fish.

This second link shows the photograph in question along with other similarly faked photos of monster catfish.

European catfish (wels) Ive not caught one that big mine was a baby at 65lb i think that must be knocking on 120/130, if i remember rightly the biggest rod caught is above 200lb, lives in most of the major european rivers and some of the larger lakes, had been known to show up in some U.K. places and was introduced into some ornamental lakes in Bedfordshire by some earl, and spread from there. Fortunately for me i live in Bedford but my big one was out of the Ruhr.

Real or fake, the picture is not exaggerating. The largest caught Mekong Giant was over 8 feet long and 700 lbs.

That would be the Mekong Giant Catfish. It may just be the largest Catfish in the world.

That looks like a catfish, but that's just what I'm guessing.
