my friend said that her rabbit just purred, is that possible?

No. Purring is a mechanism exclusive to felines. No one is exactly sure how a cat purrs, but it's the vibration of muscles, they just don't know if it's all the muscles or certain ones.

I think it's more likely your friend felt your bunny shiver a little - they do do something that could be mistaken for purring I suppose, like little muscle tremors, but no, they don't purr.

They do make a purring sound and can shake a little. Depends on the situation, it can mean that they heard something and they are alert, or that they are asking for your attention. Is not exactly purring as in cats, they use their diaphragms to purr, while rabbits come from their vocal cords.

I'm not sure about purring...but they may make a light sound that may sound like purring.

Yup, they do. I guess you could call it purring. Mine does when you pet her. She makes a combination of sounds. She makes a slight squeaking sound and a sound like she's licking her chops. I know it sounds weird, but she does.

yes, its possible. I don't think that it is exactly called purring though. It probably is just some noise that they make to show that they are content.
