I'd just like to say that, when considering whether or not to come out, just keep in mind that you don't have to do anything unless your 100% safe and sure that, at a minimum, no harm will come to you.

It's your decision to come out - whether you do that individually with each family member, all at once, over the phone, in a letter or face-to-face. Just look out for your own safety and don't do anything you're not comfortable with.

I'm not a lesbian but I'll describe to you what my mom said to me:
She asked me to come to her room for a little chat. Then she calmly explained how as a child she'd always been attracted to females. She was still attracted to men (otherwise I'd not be here) and pursued relationships with them. As she got older, she felt that it was time for her to do what she wanted to do with her life rather than suppress her true feelings. She wanted to be a lesbian and that's what she is today.

No I don't agree with her choice. Nonetheless, that doesn't give me a right to condemn her, disrespect her and stop loving her. Being a lesbian is her choice and I've resolved to stay out of that portion of my mom's life.{I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't so I'm neutral to it.} I'll only speak up if someone else is disrespecting or hurting her, that's it.

Ask them if they have anything against gay, bi-sexual, or lesbians first...?

By just working up the courage to just tell them..... You already know that they won't like it. But you must be honest with them and to yourself................................................................
