If ur a waitress, doesn't it annoy u when ppl order vast amounts of lemon and ask for sugar? I mean water, lemon and sugar are free. I have kindly offered, "we have lemonade, if u'd like mam/sir". whew, all that lemon wedges and sugar crumbs everywhere. Why not just order a lemonade, from fountain or bottle. I know, they're too cheap to pay for beverage. Can't do anything about it but doesn't this wanna make u grind ur teeth?

haha. Thanks for all the responses. It's a very small silly thing, yea. I'm not having nightmares about it or anything. But yea, I give them whatever they want to make them happy, cuz that's what matters.

Ok, I just said that is a miniscule matter. I'm not gonna put a freakin lawsuit over lemons, come on. And to say I'm making this the like the biggest scenario ever, I know where this matter stands. I don't fret over how much lemon they want, but to some tiny extent, makes me wonder why not order lemonade. But NOW I see, it is more fresh, and less sweet than bottled lemonade. I didn't know some ppl like their lemonade like that. So u don't need to go "oh, u dumb waitress, there's a world of starving ppl and u worry over lemons" I freaking know where this stand, ok.

As a waiter or waitress, why do you even care if they do ask for lemon or sugar? If they are ordering enough lemon wedges to honestly make lemonade then that might be a concern of the proprietor of that restaurant as it does present a cost factor. Many restaurants don't offer lemonade, and many others offer lemonade from a powder or mix as opposed to fresh lemonade which is much different. The fact is many people don't enjoy the tartness of true lemonade but like lemon flavored water (as evidenced by double digit versions of lemon flavored water). If the individual is as you say, too cheap to buy an actual drink. Or possibly just making a statement against the fact that the actual cost of beverages hasn't increased by very much in the recent past, but the cost has shot up to two or three dollars a glass. (The actual cost of the cup and contents of a 24 oz soft drink runs about 26 cents, but the average cost of the actual drink is about $1.65.) Regardless what it comes down to is this, as the wait staff it is your job to "serve" the customer. If the customer doesn't tip you appropriately for the service provided then you would have a complaint, but you seem to be complaining that you actually have to provide an extra level of service. As far as the lemon wedges and sugar crumbs everywhere, I'd think the bus boy would be more incensed about that than the waitperson. On the other hand, that makes about as much sense as getting upset about people that order spaghetti instead of lasagna as the mess is potentially greater. With all the truly serious issues facing the world today, if this is what makes you grind your teeth, I suggest you take up yoga, or meditation as you are attaching a significant amount of importance to something more suited to a tight-fisted business accountant.

Hmmm... funny... I waitressed for about eight years straight so I know what you're talking about. But this never bothered me in the least. My motto was do whatever it takes to make the customer happy and increase my chances of a BIG FAT TIP! So I happily brought them whatever they requested -- even asked them if they would require more when I saw they were running low. Heck, it's not like the lemon wedges and sugar were coming out of *MY* paycheck, right, so what would I care? Maybe you're not in the right profession.

LOL My sister-in-law does this all the time and it always embarrasses me. (We used to waitress together.) She has more money than me, but she and my husband (her brother) were both raised that way, to save money whenever possible. Their father is a MAJOR tightwad. I honestly think it's just habit.

But she's also told me before that the lemonade you buy is too sweet, so she'd rather make her own.

I had no idea there was so much annoying fake lemonade being made out there in American restaurants.
Sort of makes you want to go back to Med. School, doesn't it.
