Report it to your local law eforcement if it is from someone in your area. If it's just something floating around the net, you should report to your isp or the offenders isp and use the case header for prosecutuion. The results may be anything from getting kicked off his isp, all the way to criminal prosecution or anything in between. If it is a jealous ex or a jealous person who is now dating the person who you used to date, treat this seriously. If it is someone you recently p!ssed off, treat it seriously. It could be just a prank, even though there is NO excuse for that, and those kids parents need to know about this so they can punish them or it could be serious. Stay safe, all our best wishes are being sent your way! IGNORE the idiot who said "why would you want to keep a threat"

If its serious enough, contact the police, they can decide what action to take, if they wantto take up the case, they can trace the sender through the ISP and various companies and take action.

You can inform the cops or you could choose to ignore it.
Does it seem like the person who sent the email knows you? If yes, then you should definitely inform the cops.
But my guess is that it is just spam.
